What is Literature?
Literature is a term used to describe written or spoken material. Broadly speaking, "literature " is used to describe anything from creative writing to more technical or scientific works, but the term is most commonly used to refer to works of the creative imagination including works od poetry, drama, fiction and nonfiction.
Why do we read literature?
Literature represents a language or a
people: culture and tradition. But, literature is more important than just a
historical or cultural artifact. Literature introduces us to new worlds of
experience. We learn about books and literature; we enjoy the comedies and the
tragedies of poems, stories, and plays; and we may even grow and evolve through
our literary journey with books.

Peter Pant Story
It is about a mischievous young boy named Peter. Not
only does he never get any older, He also has the ability to fly. As a young
boy, he has been able to gather a bunch of other boys together into a gang
called the "Lost Boys". Peter and his gang live on a small island
called Neverland.
In the Peter Pan Story the "Lost Boys" spend
most of their time living adventures that involve pirates and fairies. They do
sometimes meet ordinary children from the outside world. Wendy Darling was one
of the ordinary children that they met. She is a very important part of the
story. The book was first published with the title "Peter and Wendy"
Peter sometimes liked to fly and he discovered in
Kensington the Mary Darling house. He would fly there in the evening and sit in
an open window so that he could listen to Mrs. Darling tell bedtime stories to
her children. He was seen one night by Mrs. Darling and while fleeing his
shadow fell off. When he went back the next night to get his shadow, he met
Wendy Darling. She helped him recover his shadow and they became good friends.
For the remainder of the story you must read the book.
Peter Pan Author A lot of people ask, "Who wrote
The Peter Pan Story?" Most fairy tales come from old folklore and have
been handed down from generation to generation. The first mention of this story
was in 1902. This story is a fairy tale because it has a fairy named Tinkerbell
as one of the main characters. It was created by Scottish novelist and playwright
J. M. Barrie (1860–1937).
The first mention of Peter Pan by the author was in
the earlier book "The Little White Bird" published by J. M. Barrie in
1902. In 1904, the Peter Pan Story as we know it, opened as a very successful
stage play named "Peter Pan or the Boy Who Would Not Grow Up". The
play was later adapted to a novel and published in 1911 titled "Peter and
Wendy". The title of the novel was later changed to "Peter Pan and
Wendy" and still later to the present day "Peter Pan".
Peter Pan Characters
In the Peter Pan Story, Peter has many personality
traits that are not very nice. He is boastful, cocky and careless and is always
telling everyone how great he is. He has a wild "devil may care" attitude.
That said, one of his strongest good qualities is that he is a very brave young
man when facing danger.
He says "To die will be an awfully big
adventure".
One of the things that Peter worries about is 'growing
up'. He fears that being an adult will not be any 'fun'. That is where the name
of the stage play came from ("Peter Pan or the Boy That Would Not Grow
Up").
Peter Pan And Wendy
"Peter and Wendy" was the name of the first book published
that was adapted from the stage play. In the story, Peter meets Wendy one night
and she helps him re-attach his shadow. He convinces her and her brothers to go
back to Neverland with him.
Tinkerbell From Peter Pan The author
describes Tinker Bell as a Tinker Fairy that takes care of fixing kitchen pots
and pans. When she speaks, it is in fairy talk which sounds like bells ringing
to non-fairies. She is described as sometimes being spoiled and bad tempered.
At other times she is helpful and kind, especially to Peter.
Captain James Hook is the captain of the pirate ship
"Jolly Roger". He is a graduate of Eton, a very prestigious boys
school in England. He is forever correcting people around him for having
"Bad" manners. He wears an Iron hook in place of his right hand. He
lost his hand in a sword fight with Peter. When the hand fell into the water it
was eaten by a saltwater crocodile. The alligator so loved the taste of the
hand that he is forever following Captain Hook hoping to get the opportunity to
eat the rest of Captain Hook.
Peter Pan Alligator
The alligator is a very dangerous, large saltwater crocodile. He plays
an important part in the Peter Pan Story. He has a nick-name of Tick-Tock
because at some earlier time he had swallowed an alarm clock and the clock
makes a loud tick-tock sound where-ever he goes.
Captain Hook had his right hand cut off in
an earlier sword fight with Peter. The hand had fell in the ocean and was eaten
by the alligator. It tasted so good, the crocodile decided he wanted some more
of the "Delicious" Captain Hook. So, where ever Capt. Hook goes the
alligator follows with the hope of catching that delicious meal. Problem is,
that every time he gets close, the Tick-Tock from the clock warns Capt. Hook
and he is able to escape.
Fairy Tale Peter Pan
One night A mysterious boy named Peter Pan
flies in the Darling family’s nursery window and entices Wendy, John and
Michael to go with him to a magical place called Neverland. With the help of a
little pixie dust from a fairy named Tinker Bell, they are able to fly away
with him and encounter the real (yet deadly) land of their imaginations and dreams
– a land where they never have to grow up. After many adventures there Wendy
convinces her brothers that they must return to their anxious parents. Peter’s
entire band of Lost Boys have enjoyed having a mother (Wendy) so much that they
decide to go with them to the real world. Peter alone stays behind – he thinks
parents and growing up is terribly overrated. As they exit the hideout,
however, the children are captured by the evil Captain Hook and his pirates.
Tinker Bell prevents Peter from drinking the poison Hook has left for him, and
Peter rushes to rescue the others and do battle with the Captain. The pirates
are vanquished and Hook is eaten by a crocodile. Peter returns the children to
their nursery window, where their parents and dog Nana await. Peter refuses to
stay, he prefers to remain a boy forever – no matter what the cost – and he
flies off, back to Neverland.
